Sometime You Need a Bimbo

Attendance: The Fantastic Four (Wendy, Mandy, Robin, Jerry)
Weather: A beautiful, cold, clear late October day.
Drinks Consumed: Well, Mandy and Wendy started with Margaritas at Bimbos BEFORE 5 o’clock and continued with Margarita’s at the Capitol Club, Robin had her fancy drink and Jerry had 2 Salty Dogs thinking the salt and grapefruit juice would be good for a sore throat – damn better than tea and lemon.
Why drinks before 5 o’clock?: Mandy and Wendy were stuck at an all day staff development day away from their building with all the teachers in their Learn Community. Although surprisingly impressed with the early morning speech by our new superintendent, that was over by about 8:30 and they had many, many, many more hours to endure. Wendy had to spend most of the day instructing. Only a Bimbo could make them feel happy again – you know how that goes, right?
Question of the week: What costs $500 an hour? Answer: An insane plumber at Robin’s house giving her a $700 price tag to change her kitchen faucet! Well she bounced him – off the balcony if I’m not mistaken – and luckily had her friend Chris do it in less than a hour on Saturday. The cost? - some cookies.
Send Happy Wishes: Wendy was not at the Capitol Club last week because she and Dan were on one of the islands celebrating their 2nd wedding anniversary.
Cool project Sarah would be intereted in: Mandy is having her students go one weekend without cell phones, ipods, lap tops etc. They will then write about their experience. We will keep you updated.
Vanessa, quick, follow this link!: The New York Public Library just received a treasure- trove of Katherine Hepburn’s personal letters. They will be on display by February. (Now you have to eventually come back to The States.)

Mmmmm...a Bimbo burrito sounds soooo yummy right now. I think I miss Mexican food the most as you never get it here. Washing it down with a Stella sounds pretty blissful, too.

I LOVE Mandy's project and will be very interested to hear her kids' reactions. Impossible to believe that that is actually a challenge for kids. I wonder what they'd think if they had to carry 10 gallons of water 5 miles, scrub floors all day and then walk another 5 miles to collect their family's goats. Lucky U.S. kids. I would guess 10% of the kids I taught at Mercer Island would have been successful.

But who am I to talk? I am constantly looking for electrical outlets which will enable me to keep my iPod charged. I simply cannot sleep without my nightly radio shows. Jerry, have you ever listened to Dimension X? Try to download, "The Barnhouse Effect." It's a good one.

Robin seems due for some good karma---what with the football game, rip-off plumbers and such. I have a feeling this is your month, birthday girl!

Happy Anniversary Wendy & Dan! I'm sure you had a fabulous time. It seems like just yesterday you were walking along on that sunny beach celebrating your wedding.

Finally, here is a Capitol Club moral dilema fr you:

On this most recent trek, the guide insults me twice (supposedly unintentionally). Below are the insults and options for my possible response...

1st insult---
Guide (to Sarah): Are you mother and daugher?

Sarah: (through gritted teeth) No, we're just friends.

2nd insult--

Guide: Vanessa, you are a beautiful woman.

Vanessa: Gosh, thank you.

Guide: I should have told you the first day.

Vanessa: Wow, thanks.

Sarah, standing right next to Vanesa, is mute waiting either for a similar comment or for this man to stop fawning over her wife.

Guide: Is it a sin to say you are a beautiful woman in your country?

Vanessa: A sin? Well, no.

Guide: Well, it is true. You are beautiful.

Vanessa: Wow, well thanks.

What should Sarah's response have been?

a. Dude, that's my wife. Back off.

b. Gee, it's pretty hot out here. Let's get something cool to drink.

c. It's not a sin, but your penis will probably fall off later today.

d. You should see her naked!

Your vote? It's hard to be married to such a beautiful woman, but I supposed I will endure :)

Keep those CC blogs a'coming. They are wonderful.
